MISSION

BMTEI aims to fully prepare adult learners to become deeply knowledgeable, caring practitioners of Montessori philosophy and methodology for children ages birth-6. We are committed to promoting inclusiveness, embracing diversity and advocating for progress towards a harmonious and peaceful world through education.

VISION

The purpose of BMTEI is to create, establish and provide an independent non-profit educational resource for the advancement of education and for scientific purposes; to improve ways of assisting children in their development.

BMTEI faculty have extensive experience working with adult learners in China. Most of the faculty are full time residents of China, or Chinese nationals. Our faculty are bilingual and English-speaking staff. We engage our students with active learning experiences based on the latest research in adult education.

Other important aspects of the program include our emphasis on action research projects that allow our adult learners to apply their knowledge of Montessori philosophy and effective classroom practices to real life situations.

The majority of our students are expected to work in self-directed internships. We have, therefore, created a strong field visit support protocol. In addition to regular contact at seminars held during the internship year, social media is used to provide support as necessary.
